Migration update:
It was found that the security settings for organizational accounts (ex: Provost, helpdesk) didn’t move over to the new mail servers and had to be migrated again last night. We hope to have this issue resolved Tuesday morning
Another issue with the migration affected 85 clients that had GroupWise E-mail addresses that didn’t match their network ID (AD account). The most common reason for this mismatch is someone changing their name due to marriage and using the new name in day-to-day correspondence and on official listing, but requesting that their E-mail address remain under the old name because of the number of contacts made outside the University. This was considered during the migration but a setting in the migration tool failed to update the account properly. This is being resolved manually for all affected accounts.
From the feedback we’ve received the number one issue for clients is the inability to save or read attachments. This ability it set when you first log into Outlook web, on that initial logon screen you are asked to select whether your computer is “private” or “public”. If you are one campus (or this is your personal computer” select “private” to enable attachments. As always you skip this page by accessing your E-mail directly through at: https://webmail.vsu.edu
During the coming days will be removing the old GroupWise desktop client from every computer on campus and replacing it with the Microsoft Outlook 2007 client.
Please take the time to learn more about this change and some of the other technologies being introduced as part of the E-mail system overhaul through the navigation buttons on the left.
